To be indexed by Google especially on the first page is webmasters wet dream. This is called SERP (Search Engine Result Page). Plenty of ways to get your site indexed and it usually got to do with whether Google thinks your site is more relevant to a particular query. This is all relating to visitors. Visitors usually only look at the first page result for their query, so the better your SERP is, the better chance of Google sending visitors to your site.
First page SERP is always tough, especially for certain keywords. Some keywords are competing with as much as 80 million other pages. However, there are visitors who don’t mind going through pages by pages of SERP. This visitor usually looks on the description for each listed website (they still won’t go beyond page 4 or 5 though).
This is where you want to make your Meta Description eye catching and fluid. And while good Meta Description will not affect your SERP index, it will certainly increase the click through rate which is what you wanted from the SERP in the first place.
The code is
<meta name=”description” content=”Put description of your website in sentences that can be understood by human readers.” />
Put this line between your <head> and </head> section.
This is what Google puts under your website name on its result page and if it can’t find it, it will list information from DMOZ. Now how many of you are actually listed in DMOZ?
Google actually advised that you use different Meta Description on every page depending on what the page is all about. But since that can be tedious and time consuming, at the very least you should have different MetaDescription for your home page and some critical pages.
WordPress user can use plugins called All in One SEO Pack to achieve the same result.
