For many new websites with Adsense, the biggest problem is to get the relevant ads to be displayed on the website. Usually the webmasters have would control it by the website domain name, description, keyword, heading (<h1>, <h2>..etc) and by reading text available on that page.
Domain name, description, keyword and headings are usually don’t change much, however, text i.e. post on the page might depend the webmasters moods. What if you want to talk about your self having a nose surgery but your website is about dogs and you don’t want to have nose related ads appear on your website?
One of the things you can do is by implementing Section Targeting. This will allow webmasters to emphasize or downplay a particular area of the page in terms of determining relevant ads for the page.
To emphasize a section on a page you can put
<!– google_ad_section_start –>
your article about dogs
<!– google_ad_section_end –>
and to downplay a section you can ad (weight=ignore)
<!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –>
your story about your nose job
<!– google_ad_section_end(weight=ignore) –>
These tags must be added inside the body tag and can be placed as many times as you like as long as the correspondence closing tags exist.
Keep in mind like anything else, this is just to guide Google crawler to show relevant ads on your website. There is no guarantee that Google will follow and you will also need to wait at least two weeks for it to be noticed by Google Adsense.
Another thing, if you have too little content on the emphasized section, Adsense my end up displaying PSA (Public Service Ads) which will not give you any income even if your visitors click on it.
